My mainstream streaming apps, Prime, and mainstream provider Bills Hit £150 This Month. I Snapped.
The Breaking Point
It was a Tuesday evening. I opened my banking app to check my balance, and there it was: a £75 direct debit to mainstream provider, £10.99 to mainstream streaming apps, £8.99 to Prime, £29.99 to major sports networks... the list just kept going. I added it all up. £150. For TV. In one month.
I literally laughed out loud. How did it get this bad? I remember when cutting the cord was supposed to save us money. Instead, every network decided to launch their own app, and suddenly I was paying five different companies just to watch the weekend football and a couple of series.
The Great Purge
I decided enough was enough. I went on a cancellation spree. It felt incredibly liberating, but also terrifying. What if I missed the big fight on Saturday? What if my partner couldn't watch her true crime documentaries?
That's when a mate at the pub told me about TVuro. He said it had literally everything in one place. I was skeptical, but I figured I'd try it for a month. If it was rubbish, I'd just resubscribe to my old services.
One App to Rule Them All
I installed the app on my TV Stick, and my jaw dropped. It wasn't just live TV. It had a massive on-demand library that updated faster than the big streaming giants. All the sports, all the movies, all the series. One interface. One payment.
I'm now paying a fraction of what I used to, and I actually have more content. If you're feeling the pinch of subscription fatigue, do yourself a favor. Cancel the lot of them. Oh, and if you're worried about setting it up for older relatives who are used to traditional cable, don't be. I even managed to get my 70-year-old Dad using it.
